Green Charity City (GCC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to making a positive impact in Uganda. We are committed to working with youth of all genders to organize annual charity events aimed at providing vital assistance to those in need. Our mission is to minister to the less fortunate by any means possible, and we have a strong focus on three key pillars: Education, Sustainability, and Spirituality.
Ssemande Derrick, the visionary founder of Green Charity City Uganda, was born on December 4th, 2002, into a devout Catholic family. His life story is a testament to resilience and determination. Early on, his mother had left his father before he was even born, only discovering her pregnancy after their separation. At the tender age of 8 months, Derrick was reunited with his father, and he grew up under the care of his two elder siblings and a father struggling with alcoholism. The absence of his mother created a challenging environment marked by constant struggles for basic necessities like food.
Derrick faced the uphill battle of providing for himself, especially when it came to school fees and other essential requirements from a very young age. It was only later that he found a lifeline in an orphanage, which allowed him to complete his advanced education.
Despite the tremendous obstacles he encountered, Derrick fostered a profound vision and a strong commitment to supporting underprivileged children. He began ministering to these young souls, providing them with a second chance at life. He accomplished this alongside a dedicated team of passionate youths through charity events and educational programs. Green Charity City became the embodiment of this vision, granting countless wishes to needy children and other individuals. Through their comprehensive charity programs, they have extended critical support, providing not only for basic needs but also nurturing spiritual growth within local communities.
